IBAO’s Young Brokers Conference will have first team competition

The 2017 YBC is slated for June 7-9 in Niagara Falls

The 2017 Young Brokers Conference hosted by the Insurance Brokers’ Association of Ontario (IBAO) will, for the first time ever, have a team competition component where groups collaborate and present a business case to a panel of judges.

The president of the event, Ryan Prussell, said in a press release, “Our Young Brokers Conference has always been a great event – always high energy, always high enthusiasm – but we wanted to connect a bit differently. We’re leveraging the case study method to bring practical execution to the agenda.”

During the event, which will take place from June 7-9 in Niagara Falls, teams will develop a growth strategy for a fictional brokerage based on a business case and information from the judges. The winning team will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

In addition to the team competition, attendees will hear from expert speakers from companies including Kanetix, CSIO and Gore Mutual about topics like the best practices for marketing your services, using tech to boost efficiency, leveraging data to boost growth, increasing client retention and how to create a strong company culture.

IBAO CEO Colin Simpson in a press release, “Learning about these areas in a practical environment and being able to immediately apply that knowledge will be of great benefit to young brokers. ”
