IA Financial’s CEO now officer of Order of Canada

Yvon Charest’s leadership at IA and the firm’s ensuing growth cited as reasons for the decision

IA Financial Group’s president and CEO, Yvon Charest, has been appointed as an officer to the Order of Canada.

Charest was invested into the Order by David Johnston, Governor General of Canada in a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on August 25.

“Under his leadership, Industrial Alliance, one of Canada’s oldest and largest insurance companies, has experienced remarkable growth that has significantly boosted the country’s economy,” states the announcement from the Governor General’s office explaining the choice. “Ever concerned about the impact of his decisions and actions on those around him, Mr. Charest is known for his high integrity. A seasoned philanthropist, he is actively involved with charitable organizations and encourages the business community to do likewise.”

IA Financial offers life and health insurance products, mutual and segregated funds, savings and retirement plans, securities, auto and home insurance, mortgages and car loans and other financial products and services for both individuals and groups. It is one of the four largest life and health insurance companies in Canada, according to the firm.
