Allianz France offers 25% discount on policies for semi-autonomous cars

A third of vehicles will be fully or partially automated by 2035

Allianz France has introduced insurance for semi-autonomous cars, including a discount of up to 25 per cent.

“We have high hopes for these new technologies,” Francois Nédey, Chief Underwriting Officer Property-Casualty at Allianz France, said in a release. “As European studies show, they will play a key role in improving road safety, one of Allianz’s priorities for many years.”

The coverage is available for semi-autonomous cars that were sold on or after January 1, 2015. Currently, 2,000 drivers have bought these policies.

By 2035, a study by consultancy Oliver Wyman found, roughly 30 per cent of all vehicles will be fully or partially automated.
